Dougherty County School board members reverse an earlier decision and rehire two school administrators.
The board reinstated Assistant Superintendent and Curriculum Director Dianne Daniels and Human Resource Director Tracy Williams Wednesday.
Two weeks ago, with two board members absent, the board voted three to two against renewing Daniels' contact. They also voted to fire Williams.
We told you then of a letter of reprimand in Williams' personnel file that criticized her failure to communicate effectively and professionally with school system employees. The issue was not on today's agenda and was not discussed in the board briefing.
When board member David Maschke asked to discuss the personnel issue in executive session, he was voted down.
"At least it had been indicated from some board members that they wanted to know the facts and discuss the reason why at the last meeting we made the motion at the last meeting to terminate the two people and we had brought ample information as well as we were going to ask for the supervisors of these people and other to present documents and facts but the majority of the board didn't want to hear it," Maschke said.
James Bush, Anita Williams Brown, Velvet Riggins, and Junebug Griffin all voted to renew Daniels contract and give Williams her job back.
