With a struggling economy, car dealers are looking for ways to entice people to buy new vehicles. What better way to do that than to throw in a free gun?

The General Manager of Jeff Fender Buick GMC in Tifton says they recently got in an overload of new truck inventory and since they are conveniently located just steps away from a gun shop, what better way to entice buyers than by pairing a pickup truck with a pistol.

In south Georgia pick-up trucks and guns go hand in hand. "Some people hunt and fish so its not that uncommon for people to have guns in their trucks," said Leesburg Resident Scott Moore.

It's a combination that got a Tifton Car Dealership manager thinking...what better way to entice those in the market for a new truck than to throw in a brand new pistol with the deal.

"I think its a great idea, buy a truck get a gun for free that's a great promotion," said Moore.

It's a promotion going on now until Memorial Days at Jeff Fender Buick GMC, "We'll call this a double barrel sales event," said Dale Fender

Fender say the Memorial Day sales event is one of the biggest of the years and he's hoping the promotion will generate more sales.

He got the idea from a friend who owns a car dealership, "He added a gun shop to his dealership and it created a lot of interest to his SUV and truck buyers," said Fender.

The dealership recently got in a overload of new truck inventory. Since they are just steps away from a gun shop..what better way to attract a buyers attention than with one of these. "We thought since a lot of our customers were outdoors men what better way to go into our memorial day sales event with both barrels blazing so to speak," he said.

The concept is quite simple, "Just come in a purchase a pick-up and well give you a gift certificate to ken Beastly's trading company for a pistol," he said.

If you are in the market for something smaller, you still get to take part in the deal.

You still have to go through the normal background checks and if you aren't able to get a gun you can get a gift certificate instead.

That promotion runs through Memorial Day and even if you are not in the market for a new vehicle you can still enter a contest for a free gun.
