AMERICUS, GA (WALB) -
Day three of the FlyTec Race & Rally hang-gliding race was suspended when a Russian hang glider's cart smashed to the ground in Sumter County.
Wednesday, a pilot pulling a hang glider was trying to take off from the Jimmy Carter Regional Airport at Souther Field. The cart released early and crashed. Julia Kuckerenko was airlifted to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
She had no broken bones and was released Wednesday night. More than 50 gliders from around the world are taking part in the six-day race. T
he rest of the day's events were called off. They rally started in Clairmont, Florida and ends at Lookout Mountain, Georgia.
