Dougherty County Police responded to a bad wreck in the 3600 block of Radium Springs Road, near the former Merck facility, about noon Tuesday.

A witness tells WALB News that the woman driving a Ford Focus slumped over the steering wheel, and the car struck a tree.

The victim was identified as 47 year old Deloris Berry of Albany, who worked at Albany Tech. She was not wearing a seat belt and died of multiple blunt force traumas, according to the  coroner's office.

The coroner says that Ms. Berry had a medical condition that was consistent with the possibility that she could have passed out while driving.

Emergency crews removed the car from the crash scene with Berry's body still inside.
