FITZGERALD, GA (WALB) -

A Ben Hill county man is on the run after his wife was brutally murdered in their home. Officer's discovered Brenda McDaniel's body Sunday night.

Investigators want your help tracking down her husband who is the only suspect in the killing.

Investigators say a family member in North Georgia requested officers check on Brenda McDaniel after Frank McDaniel told them some concerning news of his wife.

What started off as a welfare check quickly turned into a murder investigation.

Inside the home where investigators discovered a murder scene and the body of Brenda McDaniel. The home belonging to Frank and Brenda McDaniel is located on Bowens Mill Highway about 10 miles north of the city.

Investigators say it appears McDaniel had been dead for a couple days. It was during a welfare check Sunday night when Investigators discovered her body. "A family member in north Georgia called because they were concerned because they had spoken to the husband, they were concerned about something he had said..so they wanted a welfare check," said Investigator Patrick Hogan.

Her husband Frank McDaniel is nowhere to be found and at this point investigators consider him the only suspect in his wife's murder. "We have developed information he had left the area and went to north Georgia," said Hogan.

Officers are somewhat familiar with the McDaniel home they were called out to the scene a year ago for a domestic dispute.

Officers say the two were the only ones living at the home and at this point they do not know if there were any witnesses to the crime.

Frank McDaniel is thought to be in the Atlanta area. Officers say he was driving 2004 Chevy Suburban, dark green over silver with chrome wheels. A GA tag with the numbers of WX65VB

If you have any information about where investigators can find Frank McDaniel you're urged to call the Ben Hill County Sheriff's Office.
