A former Valdosta mayor has died. 94-year old James Beck died at his home Saturday.
He served three terms in the 1960s and 70s and also served in the Georgia General Assembly.
Beck enlisted in the army in 1941 and was awarded the Bronze star for heroic achievement and the silver star for gallantry in action.
The family is receiving friends Monday from 6 to 8 at Carson McLane funeral home.
The funeral will be Tuesday morning at Valdosta First United Methodist church at 11.
