Nurses at Phoebe Putney Hospital gathered Monday for the third annual "Blessing of the Hands" ceremony.

Ministers from Sherwood Baptist Church prayed in the hospital's chapel with nurses.

The nurses say the blessing and prayers are appreciated and help them perform their jobs.

"We deal in families who have traumas or patients that come in but don't leave out, or missing their loved ones. So it really helps to deal with that on a daily basis," said Physician Advocate Erica Jackson.

The Blessing of the hands is done to honor nurses during National Nurses Week. The clergy will continue the prayers and blessings Tuesday.
