A partnership between Albany Technical College and Southern Polytechnical State University in Marietta will create a first of its kind engineering technology program in south Georgia.

Monday, Dr. Anthony Parker and Dr. Zvi Szafran of Southern Polytech signed an articulation agreement. It allows students to take classes at Albany Tech and graduate with an associates degree in TelecommuNication, Electrical mechanical and Civil engineering technology.

The program hopes to keep students in the discipline in southwest Georgia.

"This give us an opportunity to have our own engineering technology degrees in Albany, but not just associates degrees, but also Bachelor degrees with Southern Poly because basically we will be an extension of their Marietta campus, so it gives us another entire academic discipline," said Albany Technical College President Dr. Anthony Parker.

Students in the engineering technology program can then continue their studies with online classes at Albany Tech as they work toward a Bachelor of Science degree from Southern Polytech.

Albany Tech also has partnerships with Georgia Southwestern State University and Albany State University.
