VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - 4th ranked Valdosta State ready to go for a third straight Gulf South Conference title this weekend in northwest Mississippi.
The Lady Blazers finished second in the east division behind number one ranked Alabama-Huntsville.
The Chargers swept all four regular season meetings with the Valdosta State but the Lady Blazers are wanting to turn the tables in the conference tournament.
The road to the conference title starts Friday against Ouachita Bapitst and the Lady Blazers are confident heading into the conference tournament.
Pitcher Brianna Hancock said. "I'm really proud of my team so far, I think we've come together when I need it. There's been a lot of 1 run ball games and I'm just really proud of them for being able to stand through all the pressure and make it out and win the games."
Kaitlin Hill said. "We just want to go out and play hard every single game because we are kind of playing it as it is our last.
The VSU softball team opens play Friday at 12:30 p.m. in Southaven, Mississippi.
