Two Albany men were caught this morning with plants police say they stole from a gardening gift shop.

About 2:40 a.m., Albany Police pulled over a suspicious car that was full of big plants and plant containers.

They arrested 55 year old Robert Carter and 45 year old Calvin Hicks. Investigators say they made two or three trips stealing plants, boxwoods, yard artwork, and terracota pots from Ann's Garden Shop.

Owner Ann Kelley says this is the third or fourth year thieves have stolen from her just before Mother's Day.

"I guess they thought they had a market for it somewhere I guess. I don't think it's for gifts for them. It's for resale, somewhere, to somebody," said Kelley.

Kelley said she was thrilled Police caught the suspects and got the nearly one thousand dollars worth of plants and pots back.    But she says she will have to start bringing them all inside her store and locking them up from now on.
