Valdosta takes part in National Day of Prayer

People in Valdosta joined others across the country to take part in the 60th annual National Day of Prayer.

People gathered in front of the courthouse to pray for our country and local communities, our leaders, families and young people.

Pastor Curtis Jenkins and other church leaders reminded people to pray every day.

Elizabeth Ward came out with members from her church, Victory Temple.

" I think it's important to pray because we as a nation need to come together," said Ward. "If we're all in one accord then things will happen god will allow things to progress forward."

The annual prayer day observance is held the first Thursday in May.
