Albany business leaders meet with national labor experts to try to find solutions to the community's poverty.
Albany has one of the highest poverty rates in the nation. Thursday, the Chamber of Commerce and the city hosted the Empower Albany Summit.
National employment experts talked to community leaders about mentoring the unemployed into the workforce. They say it will take a big investment by the community to provide jobs and education.
"All of us own this problem. It's not just the person who is in poverty. It's really a community issue, and it's not going to get solved unless we all come together to do it," said Paula Getz of the New Mexico Circles Campaign.
Chamber and community leaders want to establish Albany as a national development center to fight poverty and build the workforce.
