A man shot in the head Tuesday night in Valdosta is recovering from his wound.

Police arrested two suspects but say the shooter is on the run. 21-year old Martin Mathis was shot in the forehead.

He was found outside an apartment at hudson docket homes around 8:45.

Vinnie Pierce and Justin Arnold were arrested shortly after the shooting and charged with party to the crime of aggravated assault, making false statements, and criminal trespassing.

"I'm confident saying this incident is not related to the verdict yesterday," said Valdosta Police Cmdr. Brian Childress. "This was a separate incident that had been going on for several days some type of altercation that resulted in the incident last night."

Police are investigating whether the shooting is gang related.

They think they know who fired the shots and they're searching for him.

Tuesday Bernard Sanders was found not guilty of murder in a deadly shootout at Hudson Dockett a year and a half ago.

Sanders was convicted of aggravated assault.

Ten people were wounded in that shooting.
