Monroe girls storm to region track title

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -  The Monroe girls track team showed their depth and dominance in the Region 1-AAA meet Tuesday.

The Lady Tornadoes will have a very good chance to win a third straight AAA team title next week at the GHSA meet at Hugh Mills Stadium.

Monroe's Mimieux Land has a chance for a three-peat in the field events.

Land wins the triple jump at 37 feet nine and a half inches.

She also won the long jump and the high jump.

She won all three events at the state meet.

Monroe finished first and second in six events.

Maikea Davis won the 200 meter and 400 region titles.

Monroe scores 202 points to win the region title.

They also will have two members entered in six events next week at the state meet.

Hardaway edges out Bainbridge for the girls 1-AAAA title.

Ravan Burney for the Bearcats won the long jump and led Bainbridge to the four by 400 relay title.

Lee County's Holly Ebbetts wins the pole vault and Lane Ellington takes first in the 800 meters for the Lady Trojans.
