A concerned citizen is stepping up to help the children who have been devastated by the tornado in Oklahoma.More >>
Part of the former MacGregor plant at Albany's Pecan Grove Industrial Park will be rented to Coats and Clark after damage to part of their plant.
The Albany Dougherty Payroll Development Authority approved renting about 21,000 square feet of the building to Coats and Clark for $1800 dollars a month.
A sprinkler head malfunction at Coats and Clark last month forced them to find more warehouse space. Community development officials were quick to help.
"Mainly this is a way to provide assistance to a local company. We will gain some benefit by leasing the space on a short term basis, but it's primarily a way we can help an existing company," said Albany Dougherty Economic Development Commission President Ted Clem.
Coats and Clark is expected to lease the portion of the building for about 6 months.
The E-D-C will continue efforts to find a permanent tenant for the building.
