Some Westover High School seniors are honored for overcoming obstacles to succeed in the classroom.

Relatives and business leaders gathered Friday to congratulate students in the High School High Tech program who earned college scholarships.

The 4-year program is for students who need special help in science. They go on field trips and do hands on science experiments.

Students said they were excited to get the money to further their education.

"I did a lot of hard work to get that scholarship,"  said Jordan Green.

"Proctor and Gamble was gracious enough to help us. They could've used that money for something else," said Daryl Ferguson.

If you would like your child to participate contact the Dougherty County School System for more information.
