The Albany Panthers traded touchdowns with the Richmond Raiders in the first half but opened up a comfortable lead in the 2nd in route to a 61-46 win. Head coach Lucious Davis introduced several new red-zone plays this week in practice and was able to watch his plans come to life. Cornerback LaVance Richmond lined up at running back and scored on a hand off sweep to the left to give the Panthers a 7-3 lead. Richmond also notched 2 interceptions on the night.
Former Albany State Ram Demetrie McCray was a monster on defense picking off 3 passes and another that was called back due to a holding call. On offense Clinton Rafe, Antwone Savage and John Harris all found the end-zone on passes from Cecil Lester. Albany is now 7-0 going into next week's bye. The team will be back in action on May 14th at home against Columbus.
