THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - A teenaged girl had to be rescued from mud at Cherokee Lake Park in Thomasville. The girl walked too close to the water and got stuck in the silt.
Paramedics pulled her out. The dam that usually filters the muddy water was destroyed by flooding and hasn't been rebuilt.
City engineers say they will have the new dam design drawn up in the next two weeks. "In all lakes you get silt silting in and lot of lakes have to be cleaned out. This one doesn't have any wave action so it just silts out. It's just an unstable material. Just don't ever go on it," said City Engineer Jim Petrak.
Petrak says once the new design is completed, it should take around one to two months to build.
