The City of Albany is about to re-open a sports complex that underwent a $3 million renovation.

The Gordon Softball Complex is set to open next month after work to improve the fields and add lighting, parking lots, and a playground.

The city hopes the improvements will promote health and fitness and make Albany more marketable to host softball tournaments.

"It's been under renovation for more than a year and we are hoping to have it open in about two weeks, not necessarily for softball but the park itself, the walking trails, basketball courts and playground," said Suzanne Davis, Parks & Recreation Director.

The city still has to install the turf.

A few minor construction issues with the contractor have held up the opening.
