ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Pitching is needed to win championships.
Darton has not one but a staff full of aces.
The Lady Cavaliers are counting on their pitching at the state junior college tournament that begins Friday in Locust Grove.
Darton has not one but two 20 game winners in Katy Lewis and Cara Law.
The two pitchers both have earned run averages under one run a game.
Head coach David Dews says he has never had two 20 game winners on the same staff.
The good news for Darton is these two aces pull for each other.
Freshman pitcher Katy Lewis said. "Cara is a really good pitcher. She always has had my back and I have her back. Some days if she is a bad day I will step up. If I have a bad day, she will step up. We are not perfect. We help each other out big time."
Head coach David Dews said. "That is one of the strengths of our team is a complete pitching staff. Katy has kind of been the center because of all the strikeouts. All of them have done well."
Darton made the national polls for the first time this season at number 20.
Lady Cavs play at five tomorrow against the winner of Waycross/GMC.
