MACON, GA (WALB) - After Deerfield-Windsor won five straight AAA girls doubles titles in tennis, it is the guys turn to start a winning streak.
Knights duo of Robert Newsome and Reid Wright played Southland's Sachin Kothari and Ryan Singley in the AAA boys finals.
The sophomore-freshman duo of Newsome and Wright jumped out to an early lead in the first set and go on for a straight set victory.
Newsome and Wright win 6-4,6-3 to claim their first state doubles title.
The Lady Knights doubles team of Hope Kitchen and Lucy Kelley lost in the semifinals.
Tiftarea knew they were going to win the boys singles title with teammates Govind Chinna and Brian Jordan both making the final.
Chinna was state runner-up in AA last year.
This match between teammates was a classic.
Jordan won the first set.
Chinna wins the second set.
The final set goes to a tiebreaker with Chinna winning 7-5.
Westwood girls sweep in Class A.
Annabelle Larkin and Kaycie Edwards defeat Crisp Academy's Ashley Purvis and Erin Smarr 6-1,7-6 to win the state title.
Syndee Smith won her match 6-0,6-0 to win a third straight girls singles title.
Westwood's Jake Kotter was state runnerup.
In AA, Brookwood's Hannah Notaro and Hannah Jackson won the girls doubles title.
Notaro and Jackson defeat Heather Hathcock and Maggie Scruggs in three sets.
