As the weather warms up, snakes are on the move.

Albany Animal Control officers have been busy this week rounding up snakes who got too close for comfort for some Albany homeowners.

Animal control had to capture at least four snakes in or around homes on Friday. Officers say they hardly ever get calls like these through the winter, but snakes get on the move once temperatures start to climb.

After the snakes are collected they are transferred to a wooded area where there are no homes and released.

You can call the city's information number 311 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the week to report a snake to be removed, or the police non-emergency number (229) 431-2132. Only call 911, if it is a true emergency.
