UAH sweeps VSU again

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -  #1 ranked UAH delivered a message to the Valdosta State softball team.

That is the road to the GSC and NCAA DII regional titles will run through Huntsville.

The Lady Chargers swept 4th ranked VSU 3-1, 9-4 on Friday afternoon at Lady Blazer Field.

In game one, Huntsville jumped out to a 3-0 lead on a two run double by Meagan Billingsley in the 6th inning.

VSU's Marti Littlefield doubled in the bottom half of the frame to plate Sam Posey with the Blazers only run.

Alex Lewis then got the final five outs to record her 11th save.

Whitney Toler got the win and is 15-0.

Holly Satterfield went the distance but took the loss for the Lady Blazers.

In game two, VSU scored four times in the first but UAH answered back with nine unanswered to complete their second sweep of the Blazers this season.

The #1 Chargers have now won 24 straight games and are 37-1-1 overall and 21-0 in the Gulf South.

VSU is 31-8 and 16-7 in the conference.

This was their first two losses at home and half of their losses this season have come to UAH.

VSU will finish out the regular season at home Saturday at 2:00 p.m. against West Georgia.

The Blazers game scheduled for April 30th at Lambuth has been canceled.
