Wildness costs Lady Rams

COLUMBUS, GA (WALB) -  The Albany State softball team survived one seventh inning rally but couldn't handle a second.

The Lady Rams opened the SIAC softball tournament with a 10-9 win over Miles College.

Clark Atlanta scored two runs on bases loaded walks to win 7-6 over Albany State in the second round.

Vanessa Jones led the Lady Rams in the first game with a homerun, double and five runs batted in.

Albany State took a 10-5 lead into the seventh and Miles scored four runs before Macy Mager got a ground out to end the game.

Albany State led Clark 6-5 but Mager walked the bases loaded.

Head coach Robert Skinner changed pitchers but two more walks sent the Lady Rams to the elimination bracket.

Albany State plays Benedict at 10:00 a.m. on Friday at the South Commons Softball Complex.
