The man who tipped off police about a body buried in Valdosta is now charged in the case.

30-year old John Chambers is charged with concealing a death.

Last week he told Clayton County Police where to find the body in Valdosta.

That tip led to human remains buried in the backyard of a home on Church Street where Chambers used to live.

The remains have not yet been identified.

A GBI forensic anthropologist is examining the remains.

"With the help of Clayton County, we have a break in the case but so I'm clear, Mr. Chambers is not being charged with murder yet," said Valdosta Police Cmdr. Brian Childress. "We are looking at him and we are looking at additional individuals who may have been involved in that murder."

John Chambers remains in the Clayton County Jail.

Valdosta Police hope to transfer him to the Lowndes County Jail soon.
