Semi hits power pole

Part of a busy East Albany road was closed all afternoon after a semi snapped a utility pole.

Around one o'clock Wednesday afternoon, 45-year-old Taft Miles tried to make a U-turn in the 2800 block of Sylvester Road.

The top of his truck hit some low hanging wires. That caused a wooden utility pole to snap and knocked out power in the area.

Power has been restored, but as of a few minutes ago Sylvester Road remained closed from Independence Drive to Lexington Drive.

Police have not filed any charges against the driver.
