ALBANY,  GA (WALB) -   An accused killer is in custody after police swarmed an Northwest Albany motel and arrested him.  28-year-old Brian Beasley is now charged with gunning down 19-year-old Robert Purvis at an East Albany car wash.

At least a dozen police officers surrounded the Sleep Inn on Dawson Road just before 8:30 Monday morning. They evacuated motel guests and even locked down a nearby school until they could arrest Beasley in a second floor room.

A glimpse into Room 206 reveals oatmeal packs, bananas, popcorn and peanuts strewn across the floor.

"That's horrible ya know, you're in there with someone that killed somebody," said Sleep Inn Guest Lisa Lauterbach.

The mess that guests could smell from the hallway, is where suspected murderer Brian Beasley stayed the night after police say he killed an Albany teen.

Beasley checked in at the front desk, but checked out in handcuffs, and left in an Albany police car.

"We were in the kitchen eating cereal and somebody said get out, get out." This Florida family's breakfast was forced to move outside.

"I was very anxious because of the suspected killer who was inside. Turn around there was a SWAT Team with shields and shotguns."

At least a dozen Albany Police officers, many of them SWAT members, surrounded the Sleep Inn, which makes you scared when you have little kids in there and evacuated parts of the hotel.

They even locked down Merry Acres Middle School across the street. "They made us move from one side of the parking lot to the other because there were windows and they didn't know if he would shoot out windows or what," said Lauterbach.

Then, officers went in and took him down. "We came into the room and I think he was a little startled but no one got hurt."

Albany Police had been searching for Beasley since Sunday morning when they say he shot and killed 19-year-old Robert Purvis, then stole his car at the Splash and Dash car wash on Mock Road.

"We came out this morning and canvassed the different hotels in and around the area," said Lt. Eddie Jones.

They showed up at the Sleep Inn just after 8:00AM and had Beasley in custody by 9:45. And his bed won't be as cozy as the one in room 206.

Beasley is charged with Murder, Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of Crime and Motor Vehicle Theft.
