ALBANY, GA (WALB) -  From 61 to 13.  That's the number of applicants who remain in the running for Albany's next city manager.

At the commission retreat Monday afternoon, the board was told that the consultant they hired, has reviewed the list and narrowed the pool down to a baker's dozen.

Now, he'll narrow it to just five candidates who will be interviewed individually by commissioners and as a group.  It's just one of many topics the commission took up Monday.

Mayor Willie Adams said, "This retreat gives us an opportunity as the mayor and city commission and staff, to get together and set up our plan, set our priorities for the coming year."

Other items discussed by the city commission include setting priorities to focus on this year, including public safety, ridding Albany of blighted properties and improving public perception through marketing efforts.
