Marine Sergeant makes court appearance

ALBANY,  GA (WALB) -  An active Albany marine charged with murdering his wife over the weekend had his first appearance before a judge in court Monday morning.

Albany Police say 25-year-old Sergeant James Eppler shot his wife, 23-year-old Natalie Eppler in the head, after an argument early Sunday morning at their West Gordon Avenue home.

Eppler is charged with Murder, Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Firearm during the commission of a crime.

He was denied bond and remains in the Dougherty County Jail.

Sergeant Eppler was stationed at MCLB Albany.
