ALBANY,  GA (WALB) -  An Albany man, arrested at a motel after a takedown this morning, is now charged with murder.

28-year-old Brian Beasley is charged with murder, aggravated assault and motor vehicle theft in the death of 19-year old Robert Purvis.

Purvis was shot and killed at a Mock Road car wash yesterday morning and his car was stolen.

The car was later abandoned at the Albany Mall and police tracked Beasley to the Sleep Inn motel this morning.

Some roomso near his were evacuated and Merry Acres Middle School across the street was put under lockdown.

Officers arrested Beasley inside his room.

That shook up other motel guests.

"We were in the kitchen eating some cereal and somebody said get out, get out and we turned around and there was a SWAT team with shields and shotguns," said Sleep Inn Guest Lisa Lauterbach.  "They made us get out and away because there was a man in there with a gun and they were afraid everybody was going to get shot."

Beasley is being held in the Dougherty County jail.
