ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Fredi Gonzalez era is officially underway for the Atlanta Braves. The position players joined the pitchers and catchers for the first full squad workout Saturday afternoon at Disney's Wide World of Sports.
The players are adjusting to their new manager's way of running spring training. The Braves spent most of their session working on bunt coverage and taking batting practice. The new skipper is pleased with what he saw on day one and the players are buying into to his plan of getting ready for the 2011 season.
Fredi Gonzalez said "It has been great. it was exciting. we had a good workout. the weather was terrific too. a lot of great stuff went for us today."
Braves catcher Brian McCann said "The thing I want to say is you are getting your work in. it doesn't matter who is running it. you are going to get in all the work that you need to get in.
