ALBANY, GA (WALB) -  Driving on a busy Albany road could get safer thanks to a quarter of a million dollar project getting underway.

Water Gas and Light is beginning to install light poles in the median of Westover Boulevard.

Dozens of lights are going in from Gillionville to Old Dawson Road to illuminate both sides of the road.

It'll be paid for with $280,000 in sales tax revenue.

Georgia Power is responsible for a portion of the project closer to old Dawson road. There is no set date for when the lights will be switched on.
