ALBANY, GA (WALB) - An Albany weight loss competition is pitting team against team to raise money for scholarships.
Wednesday participants started the first weight-ins for the Albany Area Y Team Lean competition.
Teams of two to five try to lose the highest percentage of weight. Participation fees go toward the Y's scholarship program for youth.
"It's about loosing the pounds, however many pounds you loose the more chance you get to win the money, if you miss a weigh in it's $5 and when you gain a pound it's $1 per pound that you gain so that's motivation for you to loose it," said Ivey Norton, Team Lean Member.
The last day to sign up is next Wednesday.
After 12-weeks the top 3 teams and individuals get cash prizes.
Registration forms are available at the front desk of the Central Facility YMCA at Lee Branch YMCA or online at www.albanyareaymcasports.org
