ALBANY, GA (WALB) - There was a scare at the Marine Base in Albany Wednesday when a suspicious package was detected at the base post office.
A building was evacuated and an Explosives Team from Ft. Benning was called in.
We now know the device wasn't explosive, but did contain residue used in explosives. The experts removed the package without any problems.
"We received that from the Department of Defense Channels. There is a whole mission assurance channel that we look into, that we receive notifications from," said MCLB Public Affair Officer Lt. Kyle Thomas.
All employees in that building went back to work around 1:30, and all mail is leaving the base again as usual.
