ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A Moultrie mother was arrested after a Florida hospital alerted Moultrie Police to possible abuse.
Tierra Lewis is charged with one count of cruelty to a child. Police believe the injuries to her three month old daughter happened at this Fourth Avenue northwest home.
The family went on a trip last week to Gainesville, Florida and when the infant's leg swelled, they finally took her to the hospital.
"There was some bruising, some hemorrhaging in the child's eye that's going to be further investigated and could possibly lead to other abuse," said Moultrie Police Commander Alfonzo Cook.
The three month old has a broken femur and several other bruises. Authorities in Florida took custody of the infant and another child.
Lewis is in the Colquitt County Jail.
