ALBANY, GA (WALB) - This Valentines Day health professionals from Phoebe Putney set up at the mall to encourage everyone to love their heart.

February is Heart Health month.

Heart disease is the country's leading cause of death.

Monday, health professionals checked blood pressure for free at each entrance of the Albany Mall to get people thinking about their heart health.

High blood pressure can be a indication of other health issues including heart disease.

"We walk around with it and we don't even know we have it because it shows no symptoms, you know, but it is slowly and silently straining the arteries and straining the heart but is a great indicators of what we need to know so we can live as healthy and love as long as we would like to,"  said Darrell Sabbs, Phoebe Benefits Coordinator.

Health professionals say the numbers recently changed.

A good blood pressure is now considered 120 over 80.

They encourage you to exercise, choose low cholesterol foods, don't smoke, and manage your stress.
