ALBANY, GA (WALB) -  While it may appear nothing is being done to move the Broad Avenue Bridge Project along, there's a lot of work happening behind the scenes.

It was two years ago, February 12th that the bridge closed to traffic when inspectors found the footings for the bridge were severely damaged. Building a new bridge will cost an estimated 11-million dollars.

The environmental study on the bridge is expected to be finalized some time this month and once that's in the pace will begin to pick up. The Department of Transportation is still on track to bid the project in September with work to start a month later.
