CORDELE, GA (WALB) – Folks in Cordele bid farewell Wednesday night to one of the longest-serving police chiefs in south Georgia.

As we reported last month, Dwayne Orrick accepted the police chief's job in Roswell.

Friends, family, co-workers, and community leaders attended a going away ceremony to honor his two decades of service.

"It's been a great experience. I probably got 50 years experience in 21 years. It's just been a real pleasure and I'll have a lifetime of memories from it," said Orrick.

Lewis Green will serve as interim chief. He has 36-years experience in law enforcement. The city will begin a search for a new chief soon.
