ALBANY, GA (WALB) -  The Westover Patriots ended Monroe's eight game winning streak and took over first place in 1-AAA with a 51-47 win over the Tornadoes Tuesday night at the Albany Civic Center.

The win puts Westover at 9-2 in the region.

Monroe finishes the regular season with a 9-3 region record.

If Westover wins Friday at home against last place Americus-Sumter, the Patriots will host the final two rounds of the 1-AAA tournament Thursday and Friday of next week.

Earlier WALB News 10 Sports reported it was the girls top seed that hosts the final two rounds.

That was an error and the boys #1 seed will host the semifinals and finals.

In other scores from the Civic Center, Dougherty boys beat Americus-Sumter 65-61.

Westover girls beat Monroe 54-44.

Americus-Sumter girls beat Dougherty 59-43.
