Blazers shut out Rams

VALDOSTA,  GA (WALB) -  Valdosta State jumped on Albany State early and the Blazers beat the Rams 8-0 Tuesday at Billy Grant Field.

VSU scored three runs in the first inning off Rams starter Jared Arrington who didn't record an out before being lift.

Arrington walked three batters and threw two pitches.

The Blazers added another run in the second on a sing by Antonio Clark that score Chaz Bagwell.

Clark was thrown out at second to end the inning.

Blazers got two more in the third with UGA transfer Christian Glisson scoring on an ASU error and Bobby Triglia's double scored John Willner to make it 6-0.

VSU starter Spencer Butler got the win.

Butler record five strikeouts in two innings.

John Willner threw the next two, Steven Groves went four innings and former Deerfield-Windsor Knight Justin Lott [pitched the ninth.

VSU is 1-1 and at Flagler Wednesday.

Albany State falls to 0-6.
