Colquitt Co., GA (WALB) -  A nine year old Colquitt County girl remains hospitalized in Macon after being hit while crossing the highway to get on the school bus.

Shaolin Weaver was hit Thursday morning as she crossed Highway 133 to get on the bus in front of her home.

State Troopers say the driver, Freddie Meyer, told them he saw the bus, but never saw Weaver crossing the road.

School officials say the bus' warning lights were on and the lever arm to stop cars was extended.

Meyer is charged with failure to stop at a school bus loading and driving too fast for conditions. The nine-year-old suffered multiple broken bones and other injuries.
