ALBANY, GA (WALB) - An Albany restaurant will be evicted next week unless they reach an agreement with the land owner to pay up on their past due lease.
The sign on the front of Hooters says for sale or lease. Landowners Lake Worth Properties say the restaurant owes more than $24,000 in unpaid rent.
Hooters lease for the property expired January 31st, and the restaurant's management group failed to show up for several scheduled meetings to discuss the lease.
Friday afternoon, attorneys filed a disaster warrant. "The purpose of that is to prevent the tenant from removing goods and fixtures and equipment that may be used by the landlord to pay for the past due rent. And so we're filing the distress warrant to require them not to remove anything from the premises," said Joe Dent of Watson Spence, LLP.
Our calls to the restaurant management group in North Carolina were not returned. If they don't respond to the landlord by Tuesday, workers likely will be locked out of the restaurant.
