LEE COUNTY, GA (WALB) -  We've got a safety warning for you after a frightening encounter for a Lee County man and his daughter late last night.

The two were driving back from a game in Terrell county, East bound on Oakland Highway to their Lee County home.

As they drove they came upon a couple of men who appeared to need some help.

But it was all a ploy. The guys tried to rob the man.

One of the suspects was lying on the ground in front of a vehicle that was partially blocking the road.

"I open the door to get out the gentleman that was lying on the ground jumped up with a handgun and started toward me I didn't even get out of the truck in the mean time passenger had ran around to the other side of my vehicle and was pulling on the door trying to get in," said Jim Phillips, Driver.

Phillips is a veteran and saw what guns could do at war so he doesn't own one, but after this incident he says he plans to buy a gun soon.
