Lee County's Tompkins signs with Thomas

LEESBURG, GA (WALB) - On the eve of national signing day for college football teams, one of the area's top high school softball players finalized her college plans.

Lee County pitcher Lindsay Tompkins signed to play at Thomas University in Thomasville.

Lindsay won 16 games and batted over .345 in her senior season for the Lady Trojans.

Tompkins was Lee County's top pitcher and one of their top hitters the past two seasons.

She earned all-region and all-area honors and led the Lady Trojans to the elite eight in 2009.

Lindsay is excited to join a Thomas University softball program that is one of the top in the NAIA on an annual basis.

Lindsay Tompkins said. "It means a lot to me. I have always wanted to go to college. Play for four more years and continue my career and everything I am real thankful for that.
