ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Dougherty Trojans boys basketball team are fresh off a big city win against Albany on Saturday night but they'll have to get up for another cross town battle against Monroe Tuesday night at the Albany Civic Center.
The Trojans need a strong finish to improve their seeding for the upcoming 1-AAA tournament.
Dougherty is 4-5 after Friday's region loss at Crisp County.
One of those five losses came to Monroe at the Civic Center three weeks ago.
The Tornadoes are 19-3 on the season and sit atop region 1-AAA standings just a half game in front of Westover.
Still head coach Marquis Davis says when city rivalries take place, records don't mean a thing.
Marquis Davis said. "Anytime you got Monroe, Westover, Albany matching up and Dougherty matching up, you can throw those records out the door because those teams because those teams are going to being hard. We're trying to maintain what we have in the region so we're going to make sure we're going to be ready to play tomorrow night."
Game times are 6:00 p.m. for the girls and 7:30 p.m. for the guys Tuesday at the Albany Civic Center.
Also, the Monroe-Westover and Dougherty-Americus-Sumter games will be played at the Civic Center on February 8th.
