AUGUSTA, GA (WALB) - 3rd ranked Augusta State used their long range shooting to defeat 18th ranked Georgia Southwestern 68-59 Thursday.
The Jaguars made 9-13 from behind the three point line.
George Johnson hit five three point baskets to finish with 17 points.
Trayce Macon led the Canes with 14 points.
Augusta State led 29-23 at halftime.
The Canes tied the score at 45 halfway through the second half but three straight three point baskets from Johnson ended GSW's bid to end the Jaguars 39 game home winning streak.
GSW is 13-4 and 6-2 in the PBC.
Georgia Southwestern won the women's game 74-53.
The Hurricane basketball teams play at Lander College Saturday.
