ARLINGTON, GA (WALB) – Police in Arlington believe two men behind a smash & grab break in at a convenience store may be connected to other burglaries in the community.

Around 3:30 Wednesday morning, two men broke a window at the Zip Trip on Highland Avenue.

Surveillance video captured the men going in and out of the store swiping cigarettes, candy, and the cash drawer.

Chief Casey Taylor believes the two may have been behind an attempted break-in at the same store Sunday. Getting the pair off the streets, Taylor says, will help in cutting down on crime.

"We have had a quiet a few burglaries in the last few months. We have arrested 6 people on the prior burglaries and we believe these two may be tied into that ring. I believe with their clothing and their manner of movement, that somebody will recognize them," said Taylor.

A $1,200 reward is being offered leading to an arrest and conviction of the burglars. Taylor says he believes they live in the area.

Arlington Police is making efforts to cut down on burglaries. The city recently received a grant to install several surveillance cameras throughout the city which will monitor several locations 24 hours a day.
