CORDELE, GA (WALB) – One of south Georgia's longest serving police chiefs is moving to north Georgia.

Cordele Public Safety Director Dwayne Orrick is resigning to become the top cop in Roswell.

Orrick served as Cordele's chief for more than 20-years and is a former President of the Georgia Association of Police Chiefs.

He'll take over the Roswell Police Department February 14th.

Cordele will appoint an interim chief while the city searches for a full-time replacement.
