ALBANY, GA (WALB) –It's now easier for business owners to renew their occupational tax certificates. Just a few clicks of a mouse can help you renew your certificate, more commonly known as a business license.
Businesses should receive renewal notices in the mail as soon as this weekend. They'll no longer get a bulky pack of papers in the mail to send back in. Instead, they can go online, calculate how much they owe and pay with a credit card.
Treasury Manager Debra Kinson said, "We're a busy society so we're trying to go into the 21st century to make things more convenient, so this is a convenience. You don't have to come in to stand in line. You can just go at your leisure to go in online to take care of your occupational tax certificate and get it mailed to you without having to wait in line."
There is a convenience fee for paying with a credit card. To avoid that, you can print out your forms and mail them in. The minimum renewal fee is $100, the max is $7600.
