ALBANY, GA (WALB) –Albany Police continue to conduct road checks across the city and make random stops to check for criminal activity and get unlicensed drivers off the road.

Wednesday morning Albany Police, in what they call Operation Road Block set up at several intersections along North Washington street.

Officers from A-P-D, the drug squad, and the gang task force all took part in the operation.

It didn't take long for them to find drivers who shouldn't be on the road.

Albany Police Sgt. Edward Heath said  "Already we have arrested about approximately 6 or 7 people." In just an hour? "In just an hours time."

In a little more than three hours, Police made 16 arrests, and handed out 43 citations and 3 warnings. Albany Police promise to continue the random checks.
